Udupi: Elson D'Souza elected president of YCS

Udupi, Jul 8: Udupi Diocese level Young Catholic Students Movement Animators & Office Bearers Training Programme and Central Council Elections were held at Holy Cross Convent at Katapadi near here on Sunday July 7.

The occasions which was inaugurated by Dr Baptist Menezes, Vicar General of Udupi Diocese.During inaugural ceremony Fr Edwin D’Souza director of YCS/ICYM and Youths Udupi Diocese, Fr Roshan of Holy Cross, Leslie Aroza chief animator of YCS Diocese of Udupi and others were present on the dais.






Resource person for the Diocese Animators was Francis D’Cunha of Mulki and for YCS resource person was Norbert Misquith of Surathkal. After the trainning programme, elections of the new office bearers for the year 2013/14 were held. Elson D’Souza of Hirgan, Karkal was elected president of YCS, Central Council for the year.

Other office bearers are Joy Gonsalves of Milagres Cathedral vice president, Shiny Castalino of Pambhoor as secretary, Jobitha D’Souza of Pius Nagar as joint secretary, Nishanth Machado of Pernal as Treasurer, Joy Fernandes of Moodubelle as reporter, Joyan CA Lewis of Thottam as RTS, R Melita D’Souza of Kanajar as GTS., Fidel Inas Rebello president of Kundapur Deanery, Alice Quadros President of Kallianpur Deanery, Raynner Lobo president of Shirva Deanery and Flaxar D’Silva president of Karkala Deanery.

During the valedictory ceremony in the evening Dr Gerald Issac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese was presided the occasion. Fr Edwin D’Souza of Udupi Diocese Youth head, Fr Henry Mascarenhas secretary to Bishop, Fr Charles Menezes National Director,  Fr Roshan of Holy Cross Katpady, Leslie Aroza chief animator of YCS, Udupi Diocese, Francis D’Cunha and Norbert Misquith and officals of YCS were present.

During the occasion newly elected office bearers of YCS & YSM took an oath led by Fr Edwin D’Souza in the presence of the Bishop and others present. Newly office bearers were took charge from past office bearers during the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Bishop said that YCS movement should be foundation for good life with personality development, strong unit and to build strong society in the Holy Sabha.  Fr Charles Menezes and Francis D’Cunha also spoke during the occasion.

The programmes were organised by past office bearers under the guidance from the director Fr Edwin D’Souza and Chief Animator Leslie Aroza of Thottam. Newly elected President Elson D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. Around 150 office bearers of various YCS units and animators of various units were present on the grand occasion.
