Mangalore, Jul 9: The office-bearers of D K District Congress Seva Dal asked the police commissioner to probe the certificates of all the 150 police personnel appointed in the year 2010-11 at a press meet on Monday July 8.

Speaking to reporters, D K district chief organizer H M Ashraf said, “The suspension of eight persons who were newly appointed as village accountants (VA) in Udupi district is just the tip of the ice-berg. Of the 2010-11 appointees to the police force in Dakshina Kannada district, no one knows how to read or speak English,” he alleged adding that there were 150 appointments in the year.

Ashraf pointed out that of 150 police appointed in 2010-11, there is not a single person from the district. Ashraf asked the police commissioner to conduct a probe to investigate the credibility of the examination certification.

Mangalore city block president Oswald D’Cunha and secretary Alistan D’Cunha were present at the press meet.
