Puttur: Overturned tractor claims a life

Puttur, Jul 10: A labourer working for an electrical contractor lost his life after a tractor in which he was travelling overturned near Kadamaje Bridge in Ilantila village near Uppinangady in the taluk on Tuesday July 9. He has been identified as Rimko (20), but more details about him are not available.

Rimko was moving in the ill-fated tractor to attend a work of the contractor. The vehicle is owned by electric contractor, Mohan. He was entrusted with works relating to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme. The tractor, which was loaded with electrical equipments, went out of control of the driver while ascending a steep road, and suddenly started hurtling backwards before overturning.

The locals helped to lift the tractor. The moment its position was restored, the tractor raced backwards and totally destroyed a motor bike belonging to Abdul Aziz that had been parked there.

Police sub-inspector of Puttur rural police station, Rakshit, and other personnel visited the spot and registered a case.
