Mangalore: AICS Table tennis tournament held at Lourdes School

Mangalore, Jul 12: Table Tennis Tournament 2013 by AICS was organized with the objective of encouraging the young budding sportsmen with the team sportsmanship.

The tournament was held on Friday July 12 at 9 am at the Bejai Church Hall and hosted by Lourdes Central School.

 

The inaugural ceremony began at 9:30am, The chief guest Fr Sunil Pinto, assistant parish priest St Francis Xavier Church Bejai;  Dr Victor Machado manager Lourdes Central School; principal Fr Michael Lobo was escorted by the sports convenor Viswanath Devadiga to the dais.

After the lighting of the lamp the chief guest Fr Sunil Pinto, Dr Victor Machado and  Fr Michael Lobo Principal welcomed the gathering by giving an inspirational message on sportsmanship and motivated the participants to play a fair and unbiased game.
They also stressed that the every participant should be disciplined, committed and should abide the rules and regulations of the tournament.

The chief referee Gautham Shetty along with his team was introduced to the gathering and honoured by the team managers of Lourdes Central School.

The inauguration was unique and sportive and the dignitaries opened the tournament by playing across the table tennis table.

During the  Inter School table Tennis Tournament 20 ICSE and CBSE schools of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District participated consisting of 54 teams.

The teams were categorised as follows- Under 16 Boys – 20 Teams , Under 16- Girls – 10 Teams, Under 14- Boys – 16 Teams and Under 14 – Girls – 8 Teams.
