Gold biscuits seized from passengers from Dubai

Kasargod, Jul 13: Officials of the customs intelligence have recovered three kilograms of gold in the form of biscuits, being smuggled into the country from Dubai. They have also arrested two locals.

The names of the arrested persons have been given as Saidu Muhammed Jasir, and Koppal Abbas Abdul Rahman, both from Kasargod.

A kilogram of gold was found in the possession of Saidu Muhammed Jasil, who reached Kochi airport by Emirates flight from Dubai on Thursday July 11.

He was found to have hidden gold biscuits in a handbag he was carrying. US dollar currency notes were also found from his possession.

Two kilograms of gold biscuits were seized from Abbas Abdul Rauf, who came from another Dubai flight the same day. He had hidden the golden biscuits inside the socks worn by him. The hidden gold was discovered, after the officials subjected him to a detailed check, after growing suspicious of his movements.

Both the arrested persons are being interrogated now.
