M'lore: Poojary, Rai, distribute compensation to flood victims

Mangalore, Jul 14: The compensation for the families of those who lost their life in the recent disasters, especially floods, collected by the Congress leaders, under the leadership of B Janardhan Poojary, was handed over to the beneficiaries on Saturday July 13.

Poojary, along with other Congress leaders, visited the houses of the five deceased in different parts of Dakshina Kannada and handed over the compensation amount to the kin of the deceased.

Each family received Rs 25,000 in cash as compensation Two families in Bantwal also received Rs 1,50,000 as compensation from the state government through state forest minister B Ramanath Rai.

Addressing the media in Bantwal, Poojary said that five people lost their lives due to various disasters in this rainy season. “I had urged our district ministers, MLAs, corporators, and leaders to donate in order to provide compensation to the kin of the deceased. As a result, we had received a total of Rs 4,75,000 as donations. Every family of the deceased is to receive Rs 25,000 each and the remaining amount is to be distributed among families who have lost all their property due to the impact of rain, floods, and land slides,” he added.

“In the past, the government used to give compensation of Rs1,00,000 to the family of the deceased who lost their life in rain-related disasters. But now, I have spoken to the ministers and the amount has been increased to Rs 1,50,000. The government has quickly responded to this and the compensation amount has already been released,” he added.

Poojary further thanked Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, Abhaychandra Jain, J R Lobo, Moideen Bawa, corporators, party leaders, and workers for responding and helping him in the cause.

Poojary, along with other leaders, visited Harekala, Ammunje, Belthangady, and Puttur. A compensation cheque of Rs 1,50,000 from the state government was handed over by forest minister B Ramanath Rai to the family of Ejaaz Ahmed (19) and Abdul Razak (20), both residents of Ammunje, who met an accidental watery grave, recently.

Poojary also spoke to the family members of the deceased and urged to them face their sorrow and be strong.

Speaking on the occasion, Rai said that it was sad to know that a lot of people have lost their life due to various disasters.

The names of the deceased are Ejaaz Ahmed (19), resident of Ammunje, Abdul Razak (20), resident of Ammunje, Kalandar (22), resident of Harekala, Mahabala Moolya (28), resident of Belthangady, and Puttanna Naik (37), resident of Puttur.

Ibrahim Kodijal, Harikrishna Bantwal, B H Khader, Shashidar Hegde, T K Sudhir, Eshwar Ullal, Arun Coelho, Santosh Shetty, Mahabala Marla, Abbas Ali, Kavitha Sanil, Jacintha Alfred, Appi, Shailaja, Ratikala, Mohan Mendon, Chandra Shekar Bhandary, Sabitha Misquith, Prakash Alape, and Nagaveni were present.

 

Bantwal: Poojary praises state government budget

Bantwal, Jul 14: “The state government has given a satisfactory budget to the people of the state,” said Janardhan Poojary, addressing to media persons on Saturday, July 13, in Bantwal.

He was speaking while distributing compensation to the kin of those who died in the recent disasters caused by the rains.

“The new budget is only for eight years and already four years have passed after the formation of the government. The new cabinet has truly given a satisfactory budget to the whole of the state. We had mentioned a lot of aspects in the memorandum and have been striving hard to fulfill them, one by one, thus proving ourselves to the more than 6 crore people of our state. A total of 168 points and been mentioned in the memorandum and already 70 of them have been successfully implemented,” he said.

“A purely communal harmonious budget has been put through this time, in all ways. This budget is a clear answer to all the opposition leaders and those who had been criticizing the new cabinet,” added Poojary.

    Guys look at the names of the family who got the compensation. Out of all the victims only congress vote bank were provided help. according to congress rest of the people in the society does not exist. This show how low they will stoop to votebank politics.
