Singers compete at Natak Sabha M'lore deanery contest

Mangalore, Jul 15: In commemoration of the golden inter parish Konkani singing competition of Konkani Natak Sabha, Mangalore city deanery inter parish singing competition was held on Sunday July 14 at Don Bosco Hall here.

The singing competition was inaugurated by renowned singer 'Yodelling King' Melwin Peris, Angelore by lighting the lamp along with assistant Parish Priest of Cordel Parish Fr Vishal Monis, president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza (capuchin), General Secretary Sunil Menezes, assistant secretary Lynette P Kamath, treasurer Prem Lobo, Convenors Adolphus Cutinha, Raymond D’Cunha, Felix Sequeira and Jossy Theodore.

Speaking on the occasion Melwin Peris expressed his experience in Konkani Singing Competition organsied by Konkani Natak Sabha from his childhood and wished all the participants every success. Fr  Vishal Monis wished all the participants all the best.
In both the categories 112 Competitors from Cordel, Derebail, Angelore, Bondel and Kelarai parishes of the Mangalore City Deanery participated in the competition. 

The following competitors are qualified for Semi final:
Below 10 years:
Solo – Minola Saldanha, Bondel and Simona Monteiro, Cordel
Duet – Minola Saldanha and Shaina D’Silva, Bondel
  Shaini Manisha Pinto and Vandana John Rasquinha, Angelore
Mixed Group: Viya Jovita Mascarenhas and group, Angelore
 Joshua Sequeira and Group, Cordel

10 to 15 years:
Solo - Sonal Monteiro, Cordel and Melissa Saldanha, Bondel
Duet - Diya D’Cunha and Sonal Monteiro, Cordel
  Kripa Rasquinha and Jeswita Quadros, Angelore
Mixed Group - Sonal Monteiro and group, Cordel
 Vensita Dias and group, Angelore
  
Above 15 years
Ladies Solo - Lavita Lobo, Angelore and Denora I V  Fernandes, Derebail
Gents Solo - Sheldon Raynal Pinto, Bondel and Gyavin E. Menezes, Derebail
Ladies duet - Primrose Pinto and Preenetha Pinto, Derebail,
    Anjali Andrade and Betsy Rodrigues, Cordel,
Gents duet - Raynal Sequeira and Ashwin D’Costa, Cordel

Married couple : Anil and Irine D’Cunha, Cordel

Alwyn Noronha from Bajpe, Babitha D’Sa from Valencia and Francis D’Souza from Rosario Cathedral are the judges for the competition.

Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Prem Lobo introduced the judges, Raymond D’Cunha compeered the programme and Sunil Menezes proposed vote of thanks.

Audience enjoyed the jokes enacted by Dolla Mangalore on the occasion.
 
Prize distribution ceremony for the qualifier of Semifinal was held after the competition. The prizes were distributed by parish priest of Angelore Parish Fr Mathew Vas, parish priest of Vamanjoor parish Fr Cyprian Pinto, assistant parish priests of Cordel Parish Fr Vishal Monis and Fr Roshan D’Souza along with president of Konkani Natak Sabha Fr Peter Cyprian D’Souza. Praveen Rodrigues announced the results.
