Mangalore, Jul 16: All College Student Association of Mangalore polytechnic organized a protest near the office of the deputy commissioner here on Tuesday, July 16, opposing the carry-over system followed by the colleges. Following the protest, a memorandum was presented by the students to the DC demanding revocation of system.

Addressing the gathering, Dinakar Shetty, the Association legal advisor said, “The carry-over system introduced by the previous government was creating problem to the students. In this system, students who fail in more than four subjects cannot continue studies. But this way, more than 50% students will be deprived of education. Hence, we filed a litigation in the Supreme Court. Examining this issue, the court passed an order to provide opportunity to students who fail in eight subjects instead of four. The government had considered the order of the court and this was useful to many students.”

"But the government’s present decision of 2013-14 has created problems for more than 80% students. Hence considering the students' future, government should re-examine the order," he urged.

Association president Ramith Shetty, Deekshith, Sachin Bangera, Ashwith B, Shrilatha, Vinay, Lohith Kumar and others were present.
