Bangalore: Quota list for ULBs in a week, says minister

Bangalore, Jul 17: The reservation list for the posts of presidents and vice-presidents for all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State will be announced within a week, Municipal Bodies and Local Bodies Minister Qamar Ul Islam informed the Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday.

In a reply to BJP floor leader Jagadish Shettar during the zero hour, the minister said guidelines for reservation of posts of president and vice-president in city municipal council, town municipal council and town panchayats would be announced in a week on reservation of the posts of president and vice-president in urban local bodies except city corporations.

Elections were held to the ULBs in March last and the Congress emerged victorious in a majority of bodies.

Shettar sought reasons for the delay in the announcement of reservation for filling up the posts in the urban local bodies.
 

COMED-K to Return Fees to those who Surrender Seats
 
Meanwhile, Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande told H D Revanna of JD(S) that the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental-Karnataka (COMED-K) would return the fees in the case of students who surrender their seats in COMED-K colleges.

Students selected under COMED-K can surrender seats if they received admission in colleges through the CET, he said.
