Udupi, Jul 21: ‘Aatidonji Dina – Mahileyara Koota' was organized by Udupi Taluk Mahila Mandaligala Okkoota, women multipurpose co-operative society and Tulu Siri Chavadi on Saturday July 20.

The celebrations began with the game of ‘Chennamane’.

Thirteen delicious dishes of Tulunadu including Halesina Kai Gadde, Menthe Ganji Pundi, Arasina Yele Gatti, Chilimbi adde, Kadubu, Thimare Chatni, Huruli Chatni, Happala Chatni, Uddina Chatni, Halasina Beejada Vade, Patrode, Huruli Ogarne and Nuge Vade were on display. They are prepared especially during the month of Aati or Ashada.

Dr Nikethana, organizer of Kannada PG research Center, Govt PU College, Thenkanadiyoor, inaugurated the function. In her address she said that it was a small effort by women to prevent the language and culture from vanishing.

Further she said, "Human beings claim of technical development and scientific improvisation but even then they cannot change nature and time. Ashada comes in monsoon season and we cannot change that. The importance of seasonal and traditional medicine is vanishing year by year.”

Sheela K Shetty, president of Udupi District Women Organization, Harini Damodhar the president of women multipurpose co-operative society, Yashoda J Shetty, secretary of Udupi Taluk Mahila Mandaligala Okkoota, Ishwar Chitpadi the acting president of Tulu Siri Chavadi Jayakar Shetty Indrali were present.
