Moodbidri, Jul 21: Police have arrested a man for collecting several lacs of rupees from job aspirants from Dakshina Kannada and other districts on false promises of employment in software companies.

The aspirants who were cheated by the man traced the accused in Hyderabad and later handed him over to police.

The arrested is identified as Mihith (28) from Jharkhand.

As per the information obtained, Mihith had opened MN Sairam Associate company six months back at Emporium Complex in Kankanady. Later, under that banner, he had published ads in newspapers about jobs. It is said that he collected money in advance from job aspirants who had submitted their applications.

Around 30 students who had completed diploma from SNM Polytechnic had submitted applications for jobs and had made a payment of Rs 20,000 and few even a lac. Even after several months of waiting, there was no sign of job opportunity and the fraud came to light when the students enquired with the companies where Mihith had promised them jobs.

Mihith closed his company at Kankanady and opened a similar firm at Hyderabad where he duped several other students in the same way. Around 6 students from Moodbidri who came to know about this went to Hyderabad, caught hold of Mihith and handed him over to Panchagutta police station.

A complaint is also filed at Moodbidri police station.
