Bangalore, Jul 22: Karnataka’s Revenue V Srinivas Prasad informed the legislative assembly on Monday that the appointment orders will be issued soon to recruit 1834 surveyors across the State.

In a reply to Rajiv P (BSR Congress) during the question hour, Prasad said the Karnataka Examination Authority conducted the examination and a decision has been taken to appoint 1834 surveyors.

A proposal was placed before the next Cabinet meeting for approval and later recruitment orders would be issued, he said.

Sanctioned surveyors’ posts are 4012. Presently, 1772 surveyors are working and 2240 posts are vacant.
Recruitment process was completed and eligible 1834 surveyors would be appointed.

“Approval is requested from the government to issue the appointment orders. As soon as it approved by the Government, action will be taken to fill surveyors post at the earliest,” the Minister said.

No private surveyors had been appointed. Shortage of surveyors has been causing problems to farmers and decision has been taken to fill vacancies by amending cadre and recruitment rules, the Minister said.

Only candidates secured engineering in civil, diploma in civil engineering, Job Oriented Course certificate in land and city survey and retired employees of Survey Department are eligible to become government surveyors.

Licensed surveyors are eligible to survey of lands and they were being paid Rs 300 per case.
