Udupi, Jul 23: “The student association came into existence in order to encourage the organization skills and leadership qualities among the students. Youth can learn to be better citizens by developing their social responsibility and service attitude” said professor K Narayan, principal of SMS college after distributing the scholarships and inaugurating the 2013-14 student association at the Mulki Sundaram Shetty College. 

Dayanda Shetty, convener of the Vinodha and Chandrashekar Shetty sponsored Kaup foundation said “As is the case every year our foundation has sponsored the scholarships worth Rs 1000 for each of the 51 students." He also briefed on the foundation mission.

Parent-teacher association convener V Subbayya Hegde presided over the programme and lauded the educational progress of college students.

Professor Subramanya Bhat K, principal presented the key note address. Student association president Suraj Nayak welcomed, secretary Keerthan thanked and assistant secretary Ranjitha compered.
