Bangalore, Jul 23: A 65-kms peripheral ring road (PRR) from Tumkur Road to Hosur Road with a width of 75 mts has been approved by the State Government at a cost of Rs 4,300 crore.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be funding the ambitious project, chief minister Siddaramaiah informed the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Replying to a question from BJP member S R Vishwanath, the chief minister said the officials of the JICA were expected to visit Bangalore for holding discussions on funding the project.
The proposed PRR starts from Tumkur road and joins Hosur road crossing over Doddaballapura road, Bellary road, Old Madras road and Sarjapura road.
The PRR is expected to ease traffic congestion in the future.
Compensation would be given to farmers and land owners either in the form of cash or sites near the road, the Chief Minister said.
In a reply to K S Puttanaiah of Sarvodaya Karnataka Party (SKP), the Chief Minister said the government would prepare a plan for decongest Bangalore and development of Ramangaram, Chikballapur, Hoskote, Devanahalli and Kananapura as satellite towns.
A meeting of urban experts and legislators would be convened to evolve the plan, Siddaramaiah said.
