Bantwal: Bike rider assaulted, threatened at Melkar

Bantwal, Aug 3: An incident of assault and threat to kill was reported from Melkar here on Friday Aug 2. The victim, Sadashiva Poojary of Peraje was riding his bike towards Mani from BC Road. His friend, Lokesh was sitting behind him in the bike.

When they reached Melkar, a group of four people led by Kiran got down from an auto, reportedly waylaid their bike, insulted Poojary by abusive language, assaulted and threatened to kill him.

The group is said to have forcibly taken away Rs 5,000 from him.

Bantwal police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
