Udupi, Aug 6: The inauguration of Don Bosco Tech, Centre for skill training for youth will be formally held on Friday August 9 at 10 am, by Vinaya Kumar Sorake - urban development and udupi district in charge minister – Government of Karnataka.  He will also award certificates to the trainees who have already completed their training and are happily placed. 

‘Don Bosco Tech India’ was set up in 2006 with an objective to provide quality vocational training to the disadvantaged youth. DB Tech provides employment-linked, market-driven vocational courses of short duration to the economically and socially marginalized youth in the age bracket of 18 to 35 years. A network of 176 skill training centres, DB Tech is arguably the largest spread across 25 states of India.  One of such centres is set to be opened at Manchakal – Shirva in Udupi district under the aegis of Don Bosco Tech, Trasi.

The Salesians of Don Bosco – an international organization dedicated full time to the service of young people, especially those who are poorer and disadvantaged. The society is founded by St John Bosco, an Italian saint-educator who has left posterity in his unique way of educating the homeless boys with opportunities for livelihood skills. Today the society works for the development and education of the young especially those most at risk. Through its 3000 schools, colleges, technical schools and youth centers in 132 countries, the Salesians of Don Bosco serve all young people irrespective of religious differences or social inequalities.


Other guests include Fr Stany Tauro, parish priest of Shirva Church, Hasanabba Sheikh, president of Shirva panchayat, David D’Souza, president of Mudarangadi panchayat and Br James Marcus, director of Don Bosco Tech, Trasi.  This was communicated through a press release by Fr Maxim D’Souza sdb, director of the institute.
