Mangalore, Aug 8: Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Mysore zone Intercollegiate Table Tennis Tournament 2013-14  (Men and Women) was hosted by Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, Mangalore on August 7.

The inaugural programme was held at AJIMS auditorium.  Harish Gowda, physical director, Laxmi Memorial Educational Trust welcomed the gathering. Dr Ramesh Pai, Dean AJ Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore was the chief guest.

He spoke as to how table tennis was played in the age old days and said that participation was important than winning. Dr Larissa Martha Sams, Principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing, Mangalore also spoke about playing the game with the right spirit and wished good luck to all the participants. Vote of thanks was delivered by Shilpa, assistant lecturer.

Ten colleges from all over Karnataka participated in the tournament. In the finals which were held on August 8, Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy, Mangalore beat Adichuchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, Belur in the Mens’ finals. SDM college of Ayurveda, Udupi won the match in the Womens’ finals against A.J Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore.

Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal, Laxmi memorial College of Nursing, handed over the trophies and certificates to the winners of the tournament.
