Udupi: Sorake inaugurates skill training course at Shirva

Udupi, Aug 9: Our society is based on professions. The society which is enriched with various occupations has now got information technology in our palms to bring in innovation in our work. The government will support private institutes which start professional courses to solve the problem of unemployment among youth, said Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister of Urban development and minister in charge of the Udupi district.

 

He was speaking after inaugurating job-oriented skill training courses at Don Bosco Youth Center in Shirva, Manchakal on Friday. He called on the institutes to train talented youth for courses such as IAS and IPS, and guide them to get jobs in departments of the central government. He promised government grants to such institutes.

He praised that the Catholic community is actively engaged in education sector during the last two or three decades along with places of worship and has helped it grow.

Fr Stanley Tauro, who spoke on the occasion, stressed the need of technical education along with school and college education to inspire students to take up self employment and requested the minister to start a polytechnic for it.

Grama panchayat president Hasanabba Sheik, Mudarangadi grama panchayat president David D’ Souza, Rev. James Marcos Trasi, and Fr Augustine Fernandes who were the chief guests, were on the dais.

Fr Maxim D’ Souza, director of the institute presided over the programme. The minister was felicitated on the occasion. The note of felicitation was read by Girija Kulal. Jecintha Pereira read a key note address. Kumari Carol Lobo welcomed the gathering. Roshan D’ Souza thanked them. Sampat conducted the programme.
