Mangalore: Revenge motive behind killing of Vikrant Shetty

Mangalore, Aug 10: In connection to the murder of Vikrant Shetty from Shantigudde, five accused have surrendered themselves to the police. Investigation has revealed that revenge was the motive behind the murder.
The arrested have been identified as Sharan (32), Yashawanth (35), Rajesh (26), Sampath (29) and Naveen (25). The accused were produced before court on Friday August 9 night.
On Monday August 5 night, Vikram Shetty was on his way back home after work when his bike was hit by Scorpio car to murder him near Morgan's Gate.
When the car hit his bike, Vikrant was thrown off, after which the accused murdered him by attacking him with sharp weapons.
Initially the police suspected that the unidentified person was killed due to an accident. But on further investigation, looking at the sword wounds on the body, the act of murder was known.
With this regard, the police booked a case and they recieved information about the accused. It is learnt that when they were about to make the arrest, the accused themselves surrendered. The car and sword used for the murder have been confiscated by the police.
In 2006, Sharan was involved in a fight at one of the city bars. During the fight, Vikrant Shetty who was working at the bar, intervened to stop the fight, but Sharan attacked him too. In defence, Vikrant hit Sharan’s head with a stone.
Sharan was injured badly in the incident and he even lost his teeth and incurred huge expenses for the treatment.
Hence, as a revenge, Sharan along with the help of his friends murdered Vikrant, it is alleged.
Sources said that Sharan and Yashwanth are already involved in other crimes. The duo run a soft drink business.
The other accused Sampath was into roof centring work while accused Rajesh and Naveen are painters.
