Udupi: Rohith Kini's model chosen for Inspire Awards

Udupi, Aug 12: Rohith Kini, son of Devidas Kini and Aruna Kini resident of Hampankatte, near Kemmannu studying in ninth standard, Milagres English Medium School, Kallianpur has been selected for state level in “Science Model Competition” conducted by 'Inspire Award' department of Science and Technology New Delhi, held at MIT Manipal.

Rohith prepared a scientific model called “Solalis”- “Sound to light and light to the sound.” This model works on music played on mobile cell-phones and the model converts sound energy into light energy by the use of lasers. The light energy is converted in to sound energy by the use of LDR (Light detection and Ranging).

It is useful for cable TV, CCTV, Camera, Telephone Communication etc.This device could also be used in optical fibre communication also.The model costs Rs 3000 to make (without the inclusion of a cell phone).
