Mangalore: Bondel Church provides free meals to devotees

Mangalore, Aug 13: Bondel Church, which is devoted to St Lawrence who is devoutly pronounced as a miracle saint, inaugurated a free lunch facility to the devotees during the ongoing weekly novena to the saint on Tuesday August 13.

Fr Vijay Machado led the holy mass, assisted by parish priest Fr Andrew D’Souza, and assistant parish priest Fr Patrick Sequeira.

Local corporator Mahabala Marla, Deepak Poojary, Akhila Alva and Fourwinds mass communications director E Fernandes were the chief guests.

The programme was inaugurated by prayer and lighting the lamp.

Vice-president of church observance committee, Rudolf Pinto, secretary Reginald D’ Souza and member Stany Alvares were present.

The novena will be held every Tuesdays at 10.30 am followed by holy mass, prayers for the sick by the priest by holding his hands on their heads followed by vegetarian lunch at 12.30 pm.

    Well St.Lawrence Church at Attur, they too have this from some time now. On Thursdays there is novena,adoration,mass followed by prayers to the sick and a vegetarian lunch. Great work

    Very nice arrangement.In fact I am seeing for the first wherein lunch is served in a church to the devotees.
    Anna daana is considered as a most pious deed in Hindu scriptures.Unlike olden days,now a days in DK/Udupi in all most all temples anna daana seva is prevelent.Bondel church Priest/Managing Council desrves all kudos for the noble gesture.
