Bangalore, Aug 14 (DHNS): The City police have registered a case of sexual assault against Independent MLC Byrathi Suresh on the basis of a complaint filed by his niece on Tuesday.

The MLC, in a counter-complaint, however, claimed that it was his niece who had barged into his house and tried to assault his mother over a property dispute. He said he had merely asked her to leave the place.

According to the complaint lodged by Vijayalakshmi, an NRI and daughter of Suresh’s elder brother, following a discussion related to the family property at the MLC’s house in Byrathi Layout, he tried to manhandle and molest her. “I was humiliated in front of the entire family, but no one came to my rescue,” Vijayalakshmi told the police.

Denying the allegations, Suresh alleged that it was Vijayalakshmi who entered his residence and attacked his mother Susheela without provocation. “It is a baseless allegation. How can anyone commit such a heinous act in front of family members,” he said.

Kothanur police have registered complaints of both parties.
