M'lore: SJEC holds conference on communication advances

Mangalore, Aug 14: The Department of Electronics and Communication of St Joseph Engineering College, Mangalore,has organised a  national conference on 'Advances in Communication and Signal Processing' - NCACSP-2013 on  which was held on August 13 and August 14.

The inauguration of the conference was held on august 13 in the Bethania Hall of SJEC. The NCACSP is intended to bring out innovative ideas from academicians and graduates from various institutes.

Dr C R Venugopal, professor, department of E&C,  Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore, Dr Ravi M Yadahalli, professor and head, Dept of E&C, PESITM, Shimoga and Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal were the chief guests.

The programme was presided by Fr Joseph Lobo, director, SJEC. Dr Rio D’souza, vice principal and the assistant directors Fr Ajith Menezes and Fr RohithD’costa were the guests of honor.

The inauguration of the National Conference began with the invocation by the students. Prajwal Jasmine D’souza, convener of NCACSP- 2013, introduced the chief guests and welcomed the gathering. The dignitaries inaugurated the NCACSP-2013 by lighting the lamp.
 
Professor B V Nityananda, HOD, E&C department, gave a brief outline of the conference and spoke about how the delegates could use this opportunity in their academic endeavor. The chief guest, Dr C R Venugopal highlighted the advancements in technology and fields of communication.

Dr Ravi M Yadahalli enlightened the audience on the research topics regarding high speed performance systems and gave his best wishes to all the participants. On this occasion, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, principal, spoke about the recent trends of technology.

The chief guests accompanied by other dignitaries on the dais released the proceedings of “National conference on Advances in Communication and Signal Processing” in which the selected papers of the conference were published bearing the ISBN.
 
Fr Joseph Lobo, director addressed the gathering whose words encouraged all the participants.

The co-convener  Dayakshini proposed the vote of thanks as a mark of gratitude.

Chief Guest Dr. C.R. Venugopal took over the dais and delivered a technical talk on System On Chip (SOC) which was followed by the first session of the paper presentation at 11.30 a.mwhich was judged by Dr C R Venugopal and Dr Ravi M Yadahalli.

The second session started at 2.30 p.m. with the technical talk on Microstrip Antenna by Dr Ravi M Yadahalli and followed by the paper presentation which was chaired by Dr ShantaramRai, HOD, E&C Dept. Canara Engineering College and Dr. Ravi M. Yadahalli.

The conference received 41 papers from different states out of which 29 were selected for the presentation on this occasion.

Mementoes were given to the judges.

The faculty and invitees were also present. Preetha D’souza, assistant professor, E&C Dept., was the MC of the inaugural programme. Anujna, final year student helped in coordinating the sessions.
