Udupi: Bus hits electric pole, lucky escape for passengers

Udupi, Aug 16: A bus coming from Udupi to Mangalore rammed into an electric pole on NH 66 knocking it down to the ground.

The driver of the bus who is said to have been driving recklessly, tried to overtake a car at Kaup-Kalya turning.  The bus which turned too much to the right side, climbed the divider in between the highway and dashed against a high tension electric pole, knocking it down.

The front portion of the bus is completely damaged. The bus passengers however escaped with minor injuries. Traffic was thrown out of gear for sometime.

The Mescom officials and staff who arrived at the spot separated the items from the cables, despite the rain.

Kaup station police inspector Archana K, who arrived, directed the traffic which was in disarray. 

Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
