M'lore: St Aloysius high school bags Independence Football Cup

Mangalore, Aug 16: The DK District Football association organized the yearly Independence cup football tournament at the Nehru maidan on Thursday August 15.

In the high school division, St Aloysius High school team won the first place. They defeated Milagres  High School team with 4-1 goals during the penalty shootout.

 

While in the final tournament of the PU division, St Aloysius PU College defeated its own ‘B’ team with 3-2 goals.

In the college level tournament, Rosario College won the first place by defeating Meridian College Ullal with 4-3 goals during the penalty shootout.  

Sadananda Shetty, president of sports promoters club presided over the occasion.The valedictory programme was conducted in the presence of  district in-charge and State minister for forest, environment and ecology B Ramanath Rai; former captain of Indian football team Raman Vijayan; chief administrator of Sastavu Boothanatheshwara TempleVijayanath Vittal Shetty.

Jairam Hande general manager of Karnataka Bank, KP Acharya assistant manager of Union Bank Of India, Shrikara Putran a businessman, Mohan Bengre, Sathish Kumar, corporators Abdul Lathif and Mohammed Kunjath Bail, Mansoor, South police station officer Divakar, Dakshina Kannada foot ball association president DM Aslam, State football association member Vijay Suvarna, representatives Anil PV, Yuvaraj Bengre, Umesh Uchill, Abdul, Shivaram were among the other delegates present on the dais.

Mohammed Hussain Bolara welcomed all the guests while the programme was compered by Dinesh Ullal.
