'Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters' to release Aug 30

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): “Percy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters”, a sequel to the 2010 fantasy film “Percy Jackson & The Olympians: the Lightning Thief”, will release in India Aug 30.

The film will release in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, said a statement.

“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” is an adaptation of Rick Riordan's novel of the same name.

The movie continues the adventures of Percy Jackson, played by Logan Lerman, and his friends, as they search for the Golden Fleece at the titular Sea of Monsters to save an ailing magical tree that protects their home from foes.

The Fox Star Studios is producing the film, which has been directed by Thor Freudenthal, who is a fan of the original book.

“I found a lot of emotion and an irreverent, whimsical tone in the books. The amazing trick that (author) Rick Riordan pulls off is having fun at a very fast pace and not always taking himself too seriously.

“But he never sacrifices the emotional core, which is a bunch of kids who have a heavy burden to carry: They have parents who are larger than life and are mostly absent. I’m a sucker for big emotions in a movie, and I also love a healthy sense of humour to go along with it. Both the books and this movie embody those notions,” Freudenthal said in a statement.

The film also features Alexandra Daddario, Leven Rambin, Brandon T. Jackson, Jake Abel, Douglas Smith, Stanley Tucci, Anthony Head and Nathan Fillion.
