Kadaba, Nov 7: In a bizarre turn of events, a crocodile inadvertently saved the life of a woman who had jumped into the Kumaradhara river near Kukke Subrahmanya in an attempt to end her life on the night of Wednesday, November 4.
The woman, reportedly severely depressed due to domestic disputes and other personal issues, had arrived at the Kumaradhara bridge with the intention of dying by suicide. After praying to Lord Subrahmanya, she leaped into the brimming river.
However, as she began to drown and was being swept away by the current, a crocodile in the river suddenly attacked her. Terrified by the attack, her survival instinct kicked in, and the woman began screaming for help.

Hearing her cries, locals rushed to the bridge. Seeing her struggling in the water and shouting for help, they immediately swung into action and managed to pull her out of the river.
The woman, who had sustained injuries from the crocodile bite and was exhausted from near-drowning, was rushed to a local hospital. Doctors treated her wounds, and she was discharged on Thursday morning after spending the night under medical observation.
The police, upon being informed, counselled the woman and handed her over to her family. She is currently recovering at home. No case has been registered regarding the incident, and the police have withheld the woman's identity at the request of her family.
Locals are now discussing the strange incident, noting that the crocodile attack, while terrifying, actually caused the woman to scream, which alerted rescuers and ultimately saved her life.
However, the incident has also sparked fear among residents, as the presence of a crocodile in the Kumaradhara river was previously unknown. Many locals frequently enter the river, and the sudden attack has raised alarms. Authorities have now advised the public to avoid entering the river in forested areas outside the immediate vicinity of the temple.
