Kundapur: Goddess Mari feast celebrated at Kandlur

Mangalore: August 16: Kundapur Taluk’s most significant Hindu-Muslim unity place, Kandlur, where the Goddess Mari feast was held peacefully in front of Juma Masjid Ground, on Wednesday which is the last week of ‘Ashada’ month.

The idol of Goddess Mari which is prepared by wood, along with a wheel was decorated was carried out on a  three kilometer procession.

Several people gathered to perform the pooja and offered sheep, chicken as a sacrifice to please Goddess Mari.

Gul Mohammed, resident said “In Kandlur, among the Muslim Community, if any girl or boy gets engaged, the boy must send sweets to the girl's home and if  any girl is engaged from this area, she has to send sweets to the boy’s home."
