Mangalore: Konkani Day celebrated with vigour at Valencia Parish

Mangalore, Aug 19: St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia celebrated Konkani Day on August 18 with vigour and enthusiasm upholding the necessity of the mother tongue.

The parish was divided into three zones. The zones presented variety cultural programme on the occasion highlighting the need of fostering it in particular with the younger generation.

Kasargod Chinna, the chief guest of the function hailed Konkani as it is the privilege of our community, and stressed the dignity of the language and the need to foster it.

Fr Maxim Rosario, the administrator of St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu released the Konkani CD of Robin Sequeira of Valencia. The Konkani songs were sung on this occasion. 'Poorna Sanna' (sweet idli) prepared by the wards was cherished by the audience.
