Udupi: MLA Lalaji Mendon calls for Muslim support in tackling cattle theft

Udupi, Aug 20: Udupi district Jana Jagruthi Samiti condemned cattle slaughter and staged a protest at the service bus stop on Monday August 19.

Former Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon demanded that Muslim organizations to come forward to help the police department nab the illegal cattle traffickers.

“The government should not ignore the process as a petty case and should take stringent measures against the people involved in it. The government should enforce strict regulations against those who sell such cattle. If the situation continues we may have to import milk from other states. Import quantity of meat heading for foreign shores is increasing with each day,” he added.

Udupi district Jana Jagruthi Samiti president Ravindra Kamath said that people who slaughter the cattle now will not hesitate to kill Hindus in future.

“The Congress government is supporting it directly or indirectly. The Congress which usually upholds Gandhian principles is practicing against it,” he said.

Vilas Nayak said that If the government can't do anything the youth of the district can handle the situation.Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP, president Geethanjali Suvarna, and Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde were present.
