Udupi: Bus and lorry collide at Uppoor, several injured

Udupi, Aug 21: An accident due to a collusion between a lorry and a bus is reported from Uppoor here.

In the accident that occurred near Uppoor bus stand, a private bus that was plying to Belgaum on Tuesday night collided with a lorry that was heading towards Mangalore.  Several bus passengers are said to have been injured.  The drivers of both the vehicles are also injured.

The injured are being treated at Manipal hospital, Brahmavar private hospital and Udupi government hospital.  The accident was caused as the bus was driven on the wrong side, it is said.

Brahmavar police are investigating the case.

    Nothing new... the way the busses speed in udupi mangalore area this will occur accidents will occur every now and then. Even passangers will be dumb spectators whil the drivers drives rashly and at last when such thing happen they become alive and start pelting stones or hitting the driver. Why do passangers or people staying in this areas do not oppose such rash driving i dont understand... forget police they dont even care if accidents happen front of them due to negligency in driving...

    it's expected because of the nature of roads we have. Everybody knows the roads from surathkal to Udupi ( not sure further ) is havoc with so many diversions here and there. Night it will be very difficult to follow. Especially these vehicles which are not local , drivers may find it so difficult. If you miss any diversion you are head on to vehicles coming from front. Above that our Bus drivers are on their mood driving where ever they want... one way, wrong side , over take, over speed, competition... they are like ravans on these messy road. So, unless RTO / Related officers pen up their eyes, we should be ready to face or see such accidents almost everyday.
