Mangalore, Aug 31: St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous), here, held its graduation day on Saturday August 31 at 10 am in the college auditorium.

The programme began invoking god’s blessings. Dr Sr M Clare AC welcomed the chief guest, Dr P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, registrar, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri and dignitaries.

The college graduation day is a defining moment in a students’ life. It is the threshold where the  BEd teacher trainees of the 70th batch fly out of the portals of this institution as fully fledged teachers  to keep alight the torch of learning and keep alive the motto of the College Prakashathi-thu-Prakashitah, which means, 'Lighted to Light'.

Dr P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya, the chief guest delivered the graduation day address and awarded ranks and founded scholarships to the students. In his message he touched upon the value each letter the word ‘TEACHER’ encompasses. To be an efficient teacher one must have an epitome of accepting criticism, internalizing values, accepting our mistakes and above all being a role model to all students, he added.

‘Kamsale’ that blends with the melodious music of Mahadeshwara epic was performed by the students. A visual presentation on women empowerment entitled ‘Stri Sabalikaran’, entitling a scene of women empowerment was depicted by the students through a dance play.

The college report gave a glimpse of all activities of the current year. The rank holders of BEd and MEd were felicitated. The gold medalists Sr Marykutty Sebastian and Sr Rita Shanthi Rebello were awarded on behalf of the founded prizes of the alumnae association.
 
The winners of the various competitions were given prizes and a couple of scholarships and founded prizes were given to the deserving students.
