Kundapur: Man attacked for standing witness to inter-caste marriage

Kundapur, Sep 3: A person was brutally attacked by a group here on Monday September 2 at around 10 pm.

The injured has been identified as Jayachandra Louli.

Jayachandra Louli alias Girish who was riding his Yamaha bike, was reportedly waylaid by a known vegetable vendor who demanded Rs 50,000 from him. At the same time, a group of four members along with Sunil and Rohan who came in a Maruthi 800 car stopped and attacked Jayachandra with sharp weapons.


Inter-caste wedding reason for attack?

A few months ago, Jayachandra had stood as a witness for an inter-caste marriage. Jayachandra and Sunil had a war of words several times. Sunil had also threatened to kill him, informed Jayachandra.

Jayachandra suffered serious injuries to his left hand and legs during the attack. Initially he was taken to Kundapur private hospital and was later shifted to Manipal Hospital.

Police are on the lookout for the attackers.
