Mangalore: Copper wires worth Rs 1.68 lac stolen, 3 arrested

Mangalore, Sep 4: Panambur police on Tuesday September 3 arrested three persons for the theft of copper wires of length 120 cms each worth Rs 1.68 lac belonging to Bharati Airtel company.

The arrested are identified as Atabur Laskar (20), Kalamiya Laskar (20) and Mitun Laskar (20), all hailing from Atihar in Assam.

The accused stole copper wires from the data center of Bharati Airtel located at Baikampady industrial area. Acting on the complaint filed by the company officials, Panambur police arrested Atabur and during interrogation, he revealed that the copper wires were hidden in a bush at Angaragundi.

Based on the information received by him, the police visited the spot and detained the two other accused along with the copper wires.

The accused had come to the city in search of  jobs and were residing at a rented house in Angaragundi. During investigation, they revealed that they were involved in thefts at mobile shops.
