Kundapur, Sep 6: The high court has rejected the bail application of Ramesh Bayari, the prime accused in the murder of RTI activist Vasudeva Adiga for the fourth time. The kidnap and gruesome murder of Vasudeva Adiga earlier this year had shocked the state.
The property dispute between astrologer Ramesh Bayari and RTI activist Vasudev Adiga had culminated in the kidnap and murder of Adiga allegedly by the pupils of Ramesh Bayari.

Adiga had reportedly unearthed several scams by obtaining information under RTI. Though Adiga had escaped first attempt on his life, his murder after that shook the state.
Bayari was the main accused along with seven other accused in the case of murder. Bayari’s advocate had requested for anticipatory bail for Bayari in the district court before the charge sheet was submitted to the court. Justice Narendra Kumar had refused bail saying that he cannot be awarded bail there. Though the lawyer submitted another bail application at the high court, Justice Sridahar Rao refused bail there too.
The lawyer continued to apply for bail after submission of charge sheet in the high court but withdrew his application fearing rejection. However, the application is rejected once again.
Though the lawyer approached Kundapur’s additional district court, Justice G S Revankar rejected the application there. So he approached the high court yet again. But, chief justice N Anand rejected the application as Kundapur police had supplied enough evidence to the court to prove involvement of Bayari in the crime.
As there is no bail bench in the high court like in the district court, approaching the Supreme Court is the only option left to the lawyer. In any case, Bayari will have to remain behind bars at least for another six months.
