Bangalore, Sep 15: Yet another round of counseling for filling up remaining 93 MBBS seats under the Government Quota would be held on Septemebr 17, 18 and 19.

The list of selected students would be announced on September 20, Minister of State for Medical Education Sharan Prakash Patil announced on Sunday.

The decision to hold counseling was taken to ensure that government medical seats for allotted meritorious students.

The selected students will have to seek admission in the respective colleges before September 24, he said.

However, if the seats available under the Government quota remained unfulfilled, the minister said another round of counseling would be held before the month-end

As per the Supreme Court verdict, he said September 30 is the last date for admission for the MBBS course.

If seats remained vacant even after September 30, the Department would seek the opinion of the Legal Department and hold another round of counseling if necessary, Patil said.

The Department has already written to private medical colleges and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences to take steps to provide seats under the Government quota for meritorious students of the State.

To a question on irregularities with regard to admission to post-graduate courses of the RGUHS, Patil said a probe would be conducted to punish to those involved in the wrong-doing.

He said all issues and problems regarding fees and admissions would be resolved from next year

The State Government’s decision to implement the Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) Act, 2006, from 2014-15, for admission of students for medical, engineering and dental courses would help in sorting out all problems pertaining to fees and admissions, he added.
