Kundapur, Sep 17:  “Access and expansion of equity, excellence and employability must be provided through education to the younger generation” said Dr H S Ballal, president of Academy of General Education and Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University, Manipal.

He was speaking after inaugurating 'Suvarna Mandira' of Bhandarkars’ Arts and Science College here on September 16.

He added that “the future of India’s development depends on the young generation. India has the highest young human resources in the world than other countries. We have to concentrate on employable education to the youth. What we are expected to have is quality education with quality teachers and students rather than infrastructure. Women’s education also is essential. We should provide them with necessary education, because they are going to educate the community”.

He said, “We have a social responsibility towards the improvements of society. Participation of the private sector can solve the problems related to education, health and poverty.  T M A Pai had also concentrated on and started different institutions in the undivided Dakshin Kannada district with the objectives of eradicating ill health, illiteracy and poverty."

Dr H Shanthram, administrator of Academy of General Education Manipal, presided over the function. Trustees of Bhandarkars’ College, K Devadas Kamath, K Shanthram Prabhu, S Sadananda Chathra, Rajendra Tolar, and Solemen Soans  were also present on the occasion.
 
Dr N P Narayana Shetty, principal of degree college welcomed the gathering. G M Gonda, principal of Bhandarkars’  P U College proposed the vote of thanks.  Savithra Shathri, M Com lecturer compered the programme.
