Udupi: Bus owner gets threat call from underworld dons

Udupi, Sep 21: A bus owner reportedly received a threat call in the name of underworld dons demanding a sum of Rs 25 lac.

Raghavendra Bhat, bus owner of Bharati Motors, received the call in the name of underworld dons Ravi Poojary and his aide Kali Yogish.

The persons allegedly threatened to kill him if his demand was not met.

Initially, a person called him in the name of Ravi Poojary on September 19 and placed a demand of Rs 25 lac. Raghavendra disconnected the call saying that he does not have money. He again received a call in the name of Kali Yogish.

Later on September 20 at around 12.40 pm, he got a call from a landline number asking him to arrange the money. They also threatened to kill him if he did not pay them the money.

The call received by Raghavendra on September 20 was made from a coin box in Karkala, confirmed police sources.

A case has been registered in Udupi city police station in this regard.
