Mangalore: Kadandale turning into 'mini Bellary', says Kemar Swamiji

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore

Mangalore, Sep 25: "The district administration along with forest, mining and land departments should take strict action against the hundreds of acres of government land encroached upon and the stone quarry operated by Poabs Rock Mines at Murkugudde in Kadandale," said Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swamiji of Kemar Sandeepani Sadanashram.

He addressed the media persons during his visit to Kadandale, Moodbidri along with villagers on Tuesday September 24. After his visit, he commented on the quarrying activities carried out there and termed it a 'mini Bellary'.

The Swamiji said he noticed that the spot where the forest department had planted acacia saplings was full of gravel stones and powder. The dirty water from the place was joining the lake. Due to the stone quarrying activity at the spot, trees were found destroyed.

Because of the explosives used, the nearby houses have developed cracks on the walls and suffered other damages, said a local.

The high-tension lines of KPTCL passing through the area poses addition threat, said the locals.

As per the rule, the unit should be 500 metres away from the lake but this unit is just 50 metres away from Shambavi lake, the locals told the Swamiji. Paul D’Souza submitted the information collected by him over the past several months.

"We are not opposed to quarrying but this work looks unscientific. I am always ready to legally fight this matter along with Save Shambavi River committee. If needed, a new committee will be formed to bring justice to the people, said Swamiji.

K P Santhosh Shetty, Shankar D Kotian, Sathish Marla, Panduranga Shettigara, Sudhakar Poojary, Skanda Prasad Bhat, Krishna Kadandale, Shankar Kadandale, together with more than 50 other people were present.

Kemaru Swamiji does not require any money. He has left his wealthy family and has taken Sanyasa 19 years ago. He is an Engineering Graduate and he had well paid job in Chennai, which he resigned and became Sanyasi. He had his early education in Kadandale School, that is why he is so much attached to that village. Besides his mother and relatives live in nearby places like Moodabidri & Sacheripete. It is wrong to doubt the sincerity of every Swamiji.

This is going on years now, now the people woke up, everyday, every minute carriers carry the rock n dust. Because of the heavy vehicles, the road condition is also has become very very poor. Nobody to ask them, they r least bothered to even to repair the roads. Innocent villagers do not know anything. Hope atleast now the concerned authorities take some steps to stop this menance.

Now in Mumbai many big builders are using Such Stone dust from Crushers in place of Sand. Such stone dust of crushers is as strong as Sand but much Cheaper than Sand, and the Institute of Chartered Engineers has approved Stone Dust as equal to Sand in strength when blended with Cement. Kadandale problem can be solved if that Unit is allowed to sell stone dust to builders ( Sand mafia may create hurdles).
Of Course Filter Sand is very dangerous and many buildings in Mumbai and Bangalore have collapsed by using Filter Sand.

What the Local MLA - Fisheries Minister Abhay C Jain is doing ? Even though this company is from Kerala still it has some local Partners who are politicians.
Even the Stone dust dumped in the nearby river is spoiling the environment of nearby villages like Sacheripete which comes under Karkala Constituency. Cattle are dying by inhaling this dusty Air. So why BJP MLA Sunil Kumar is silent ? When a desert like place near Sankala Karia village was named as Fatimapura after building a Church of Arogya Maata there, this same Sunil Kumar had rushed there and named that place as Gokula. But nearby Sacheripete has become hell due to the Mining Unit and this Sunil Kumar is nowhere to see.
