Udupi, Sep 26: A programme to felicitate newly elected Karkala municipal council president, Rehmat was held by Udupi district minority forum on September 22 at Christ King hall here. 

Solomon Alvares, secretary of the forum, introduced the newly elected president.  The parish priest of Christ king church felicitated the president.  The fact that Rehmat has become the council president shows that all are equal in our democratic setup, said John A Barboza, parish priest of the church.

Resource person, official of minority corporation, Sridhar Bhandary gave brief details of facilities available to minorities.

District minority forum president Alphonso D’ Costa, secretary Kasim Barkur and joint secretary Charles were present on the dais.
 
Karkala unit president Shaabulal welcomed.  Karkala unit secretary Robert Menezes conducted the programme and thanked the gathering.  A general meeting of Karkala unit was held after the programme.
