Dubai: Gammath Kalavider to stage 'Porlu Tooper' on Jan 17

Dubai, Oct 12: After staging several successful shows, Gammath Kalavider UAE, an amateur Tulu drama troupe is here again with yet another Tulu comedy and social drama ‘Porlu Tooper’ by well-known drama artiste, director and writer Nellu Permannur.
The maiden show of ‘Porlu Tooper’ is scheduled to be staged on January 17, 2014, at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, here, to mark the third anniversary of Gammath Kalavider UAE.
The Muhurtham of the Tulu drama was held on Friday October 11 at Fortune Plaza, Qusais, in the presence of distinguished guests, sponsors and supporters, along with members of Gammath Kalavider.
Amateur Tulu drama troupe of UAE came together as 'Gammath Kalavider UAE’ in 2011 to provide a common platform to drama artistes to exhibit their talents in the field of Tulu drama. Artistes have proved their talent with the super hit drama 'Ganguna Gammath', 'Mastru Manipujer', 'Benpinori Tinpinori', ‘Ee.. Porludaye….?’, and last year’s mega hit ‘Porlu Toovade’.
Renowned Purohit Raghu Bhat performed rituals and blessed for the success of the upcoming drama and handed over the script to Vishwanath Shetty, director along with other artistes.
Sarvotham Shetty explained the importance of unity among all communities to save our mother-tongue by supporting Tulu drama and wished grand success for the upcoming drama.
Gammath Kalavider UAE is not only performing Tulu drama every year, but is also a role model to other organizations by supporting and understanding needs of poor and unfortunate people of society and helping them in the noble cause. Last year Gammath Kalavider has donated Rs 5 lac to Spoorthi Dhama, Kundapura, a non-governmental organization dedicated to rural development and safeguards children and women of rural area.
This year Gammath Kalavider UAE has decided to support Shree Matha Lakshani Old Age Home, Farangipet.
Harish Bangera, patron of Gammath Kalavider, Sarvotham Shetty, Herman Lewis, Satish Suvarna, Sathish Venkataramana were present.
Vasu Shetty, chief conveyer welcomed the gathering on behalf of Gammath Kalavider and Jasmitha Vivek, coordinator of Gammath Kalavider proposed the vote of thanks. Rajesh Kutthar hosted the programme.
