Muscat, Oct 23: The Oman Bunts Annual Sports Day was held on October 11 at Sidab Ground, Muscat.
The day started off at 6am with the lighting of lamp and prayer. The sports events were conducted in two grounds, cricket was played in a bigger ground and all the other sports were played in the volleyball ground.
There was an overwhelming response from the community resulting in a record participation. Thirteen teams participated in cricket and each team had a mandatory lady player. The teams that participated were Namma Kudla B, Bhantara Chawadi, Muscat Friends, Sahara, Bhantara Jawanere, Namma Kudla A, Team STS, Namana, Guthu XI-Sohar Bunts, Sumukha Friends, Bharpani Cricketers, Ramee Royals and Bhantara Sene. The final was played between Namma Kudla A and Guthu XI- Sohar Bunts. Namma Kudla A, won the finals.
Ladies throw ball matches began at 9:30am and four teams participated. The teams were Muscat Friends, V Friends1, Sohar Bunts and V Friends2. The final was played between V Friends1 and V Friends2. V Friends1, won the finals.
Around 12:15pm, fun games for children were conducted. Games like running race, run with the ball, stumping wicket, passing the ball and many other games had made children thoroughly enjoy the day. At 12:30pm volleyball for the men kicked off. Fourteen teams participated in Volleyball and the teams were Muscat Friends A, Bantara Sene, Pulikeshi, Sumukha, Sahara A, Sohar Bunts, Muscat Friends B, Buntara Jawanere, Namma Chaawadi, Sahara B, Team STS, Barpani Bunts, Namana and Ramee Royals. The final was played between Namana and Sahara. Sahara won the finals.
All the participants played with great enthusiasm making the event memorable and a grand success. At the end, the organizing committee thanked all the sponsors, supporters, participants and umpires for their full hearted support resulting in a remarkable event.
