Goregaon Karnataka Sangha to hold stage programme on Oct 27

Mumbai, Oct 26: Goregaon Karnataka Sangha will enact Yakshagana and multilingual Kavyasiri on October 27 at 4.30 pm.

Yakshagana is a unique and diverse form of art.  The Mono louge in it is a challenge to the talent and creativity.  Goregaon Karnataka Sangha has decided to experiment it.  Two adaptations of Kannada and Marathi versions of the Kavyasiri have already been presented.  The third adaptation consisting of Konkani, Tulu and Hindi languages will be presented in Kavyasiri.

The programme will be inaugurated by popular impostor of Mumbai Yakshagana, theatre artiste, Manadi Sadananda Shetty.  He has been increasing the prestige of the part played by him by his talent and is well known for his Punduvesha and double acts.  He has shown that he is not less than any professional artiste.

The programme will be held in Barkur Rukmini Shetty mini hall near S V road at Goregaon west.  It will be presided by Payyar Ramesh Shetty, president of the Sangha and Petri Vishwanath Shetty, director of Rangasthala.

The Yakshagana will have Vasudha Nayak as Mandodari, Suma Nayak as Seethe, Sulatha Nayak as Kunti, Sumangala Shetty as Drowpadi, G T Acharya as Dharmaraya, Ganesh Kumar as Vidhura, Devalkunda Bhaskar Shetty as Kaurava – E, Ravi Anchan as Bheeshma, Gangadhar Kalladi as Karna and Srinivas Safaliga as Kaurava – E.

Tulu, Konkani and Hindi songs will be sung by Vasudha Nayak, Suma Nayak, Bharathi Nayak, Usha Shetty, Nikhita Ameen, Seema Kulkarni, Vidya Deshpande and Pratiksha Nayak.  The eight groups will consist of Rama Nayak, Nagaratna Nayak, Shanta Prabhu, Pramila Prabhu, Padma Nayak, Sulatha Nayak, Sumitra Gujaran, Sumitra Kunder, Nikhita Ameen, Meetha Shetty, Pooja Poojary, Mohini Poojary, Vijayalaxmi Chandavarkar, Veda Suvarna, Vasanti Kotekar, Vidya Moolya and Susmita Acharya.
 
The Sangha hopes that the programme may be a prelude to a synthesis of culture.  Convenors Suma Nayak and Laxmi Nayak have invited large number of Tulu-Kannadigas to participate in the programme and benefit by it.
