Minor girl gang-raped on Diwali by six youths

Mumbai, Nov 4: A-16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by six youths in a residential locality of Goregaon, late Friday evening, police said here on Monday. Police further stated that of the six youths, two were minors and that they have flashed the pictures of all six in the city and across the state.

The victim was invited to Diwali celebrations and was given soft drinks infused with sedatives. The youths who had taken her on a drive parked at a bylane in the Goregaon locality and reportedly took turns raping her for two hours from 9 pm till 11 pm, on Friday last.

The girl apparently revealed to her grandmother about the invitation extended by the youths for Diwali celebrations. She also said that they took her for a drive and gave her some drink.

The police lodged a non-cognisable offence at first but were pressurised by the public to escalate it to a formal complaint and give it the attention necessary. The formal complaint was registered on Monday and four special teams were formed to look for the accused.
