No leniency for illegal foreign workers: Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, Nov 10 (IANS): Saudi Arabia said Saturday that there would be no leniency shown toward those organisations who hire illegal immigrants, Xinhua reported.

Saudi Arabia launched a nation-wide inspection this month, following a six-month amnesty for illegal foreign workers.

In a statement, the labour ministry said that there would be no special treatment during the inspection. The temporarily closing shops or companies won't help dodge punishment, as there would be repeated examinations to cover all registered organisations.

Though the amnesty is over, the ministry noted that illegal immigrants could still correct their situation after paying fines.
