Mangalore, Nov 20: Students of the 1987-89 batch M Com who studied in the Department of Commerce, Mangalore University, Mangalagangotri, Konaje, celebrated the Silver Jubilee of their M Com completion and honored their professors in Mangalore recently.
It was a memorable event for both students and their professors. Many recalled their wonderful moments of student life at Mangalore University campus, Mangalagangotri.
All the students of the batch arrived with their families and explained how they leveraged it for their successful careers. Professors were overwhelmed by this and all of them felt happy about the celebration and the felicitation.
Professors who spoke ar Subramanya Yadapadithaya (currently Registrar of Mangalore University), A Raghuram (chairman, Department of Commerce, Mangalore University, MangalaGangothri), T Mallikarjunappa (Professor and Chairman of BOS, Department of Business Administration, Mangalore University, MangalaGangothri), C Kusumakara Hebbar (Professor of Commerce, University College, Mangalore), K N Vijaya Prakash, K.A.S. (currently Managing Director of Tribal Development Corporation, Govt of Karnataka, Bangalore), T N Shridhar (Professor and Co-ordinator of MBA (Tourism), Department of Business Administration).
Jagadish Bala, one of the students of the batch (currently Associate Professor, Govt 1st grade college, Haleangadi) conducted the program.
Endowment fund
To commemorate the silver jubilee celebration, an endowment fund has been set up. Department of Commerce, Mangalore University, MangalaGangothri, will conduct a endowment lecture by an eminent professor or professional every year for the benefit of commerce and management students from the proceeds of the fund. The purpose of this endowment lecture would be to expose the students, researchers and the faculty to the happenings at national/global level in the field of Commerce and Management.
On November 12, a cheque of Rs.100,000/- for the fund was handed over to the Registrar of Mangalore University. The students were represented by Bharathi Jagadish, Jagadish Bala, Yashoda Shetty and Madhusudana Bhat.
