Solapur (Maharashtra), Apr 12: Storming this Congress bastion on the sixth day of his ‘Bharat Suraksha Yatra,’ Leader of the Opposition L K Advani on Tuesday asked Muslims to emulate role models like President A P J Abdul Kalam and sportsperson Sania Mirza.

Addressing a gathering in this textile town represented by Union Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde, Advani said: "The UPA government will not be able to tackle problems of terrorism and infiltration so long it continues its minority appeasement policies."

Asserting the BJP was not against Muslims, Advani said UPA’s policies were not for the welfare of minorities but for their votes.

Recalling that RJD chief Lalu Prsad used to parade a look-alike of Osama bin Laden at his election rallies, the BJP leader said, "It was insulting to the Muslim community. It is players like Sania Mirza, Irfan Pathan and Munaf Patel who give inspiration to our youngsters."
