Kuwait: Indian Dentists' Alliance hosts 'Xpressions'

Kuwait, Nov 24: Indian Dentist’s Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) organized ‘Xpressions 2013’ on Friday 22nd of November 2013 at Crown Plaza Hotel Kuwait from 6:30 pm onwards.

It was a show from planning to production which was entirely put up by dentists and their family members. 

The entire show was conducted by amateurs without any external professionals or artists. The Indian Dentists' Alliance in Kuwait (IDAK) which is affiliated to Kuwait Dental Association is a professional organization of Indian Dental professionals in Kuwait established in 2006 and registered with the Indian Embassy Kuwait.

After the brief introduction by compere of the evening Dr Binu Mathews, the program began with National anthem of both Kuwait and India followed by recitation of holy Quran by Master Sanaul Shaheer. 

Joint Secretary Dr Jijan Sam welcomed the gathering.  After president  Dr John Joy Manappallil’s address, Shubashis Goldar- Deputy chief of mission, Indian Embassy Kuwait delivered the inaugural speech.  He addressed the good relation between India and Kuwait and briefed the Visit of Kuwait’s Prime Minister to India to strengthen the bond.

Chief guest Dr Sabiha Al- Muttawa- director of Dental Administration, Ministry of Health Kuwait thanked to India and Indians for their friendship and high quality service in Kuwait.  She also said that she is a big fan of Bollywood songs and movies. 

Dr Jawad Behbehani- dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University appreciated more than 100 years old Kuwait- India friendship.  He said Kuwaitis used to choose India as their holiday destination before they found American and European countries.  He reminded that Indian Rupee was Kuwait’s currency earlier and appreciated Indian Doctor’s high quality service in Kuwait.  Dr. Narayanan Nampoory- Founder and Chairman of Indian Doctor’s Forum (IDF) Conveyed the greetings from IDF and said that India is producing high quality doctors which increases the demand of Indian doctors in the world. 

Chief guest Dr. Sabiha Al Muttawa along with other dignitaries released the ‘Members Directory 2012-2013’ and presented the first copy to Shubashis Goldar.  Dr Rukia Aflah, Coordinator of the directory project addressed the gathering.  Dr Jawad Behbehani presented the ‘IDAK dentist of the year’ award to Dr David Ganasekhar.  Farewell mementoes were presented by Dr Narayanan Nampoory to Dr. Binumon, Dr Prakash Kamath and Dr. Reshma Kamath.  Premium sponsors of the event were honored with mementoes by Dr. Abdulwahab Alawadhi, Chairman, Kuwait Dental Association.  Vice president Dr Dolly Manchanda proposed vote of thanks.

The entertainment part of the program started with Classical dance by Dr. Sangeetha and Hannath Jacob followed by ‘Count on us’ song and Nursery Rhymes enacting by IDAK kids.  Audience enjoyed foot tapping dances of different forms such as Filmy/ Bollywood Hits, Dance of Soul- Mistic Saga, Nach Baliye- The Sizzlers, Retro dance- Coconut Kunjapoos, Melody dance- Rainbow and Jalak- Desi Vobes.  ‘Children of the world’, fashions show by IDAK kids was performance of the day.  Melodious songs were sung by Dr.Pramod, Nimmi Susan Cherian and Shibu George.  Percussion duo by Dr. Rino Roy and Dave Rino, Urban Rhythm by Rayan Mathew and “History Reloaded’ a short play by The Mavericks really showed the hidden talents of Doctors and their family.

Raffle draw was conducted by multitalented Malayalam Cine Star Lalu Alex who was present during the occasion.  He has acted in more than 150 movies since his first movie ‘Ee Gaanam Marakkumo’ in 1978 till his latest movie ‘Pattam Pole’ this year. He started his career as supporting actor and continued as villain, main and comedy actor.

It was a culture filled evening by doctors for doctors in between their busy schedule remembering their college days in India where sports and cultural activities are a part of education system to showcase the talents of students.  The program was well compered by Dr Binu Mathews, Dr Shalin Anna Simon, Dr Pratap and Dr Priya.  The evening came to a conclusion with a scrumptious buffet Dinner.

The core objectives of IDAK are to foster development, professional awareness and fellowship amongst its members and to strive for a higher profile for the Indian dental professional in Kuwait. They also aim to build a good rapport with their professional colleagues and the general public of our host nation through friendly dialogue, professional interaction and cultural exchanges, thereby promoting Indo-Kuwait cooperation.
