Muscat: Bunts converge for grand 'Koodukatta'

Muscat, Nov 26: Oman Bunts community recently celebrated its annual mega event 'Bunts Koodukatta' at Grand Hall, Hotel Al Falaj, Muscat, in the presence of a mammoth gathering. The program started with a prayer followed by lighting of the lamp.
 
Supriya P Alva, an organizing committee member, welcomed the guests and the gathering.

Shashidhara Shetty Mallar paid homage to the late Mahabala Shetty in his condolence message.

Shankara T Shetty addressed the gathering and anchored the event keeping the crowd entertained throughout the day.

The entertainment program started off with a prayer song and cultural programs that were presentedby both children and adults with songs in Kannada, Hindi and Tulu and in the form of dances, skits andfashion show. Dances were choreographed by Deepa Kiran Shetty, Rama Rajshekar Shetty, Roopa Chidambara Shetty, Pranali Mahesh Shetty and Rakshitha Ramanand Shetty.

There were various other fun games for children of different age groups like lucky child, fruit game, tailing the monkey etc. Bunts also enjoyed the bachelor game, couple game and men and women tug of war games. There were many spot prizes in which the audience participated enthusiastically. Prizes were distributed for all sports day winners and also for other fun games by many sponsors, senior and supporting members of the community.

The Silver Jubilee Celebration Committee was welcomed by Chandraprabha S Shetty, who explained how the Bunts Koodukatta was started by a few of the members of Bunts in 1989 and continued since then. She also explained the advantage of Koodukatta which represents the Bunts togetherness. The silver jubilee celebration committee members were felicitated in traditional style for organizing an extraordinary and memorable silver jubilee event last year which included first of its kind Kesaru Gadde Race, Kambla, Guttu House etc.

This was followed by forming next year’s organizing committee.

The audiences were treated with breakfast, buffet lunch, evening snacks, tea/coffee and concluded with traditional ganji dinner and chutney.

The great Yakshagana Prasanga show “Basmasura Mohini” made the audience feel proud about Tulunadu Art. Excellent performances by the artistes were applauded by one and all.

Yakshagana was directed by Chandrashekar Shetty. Artists were: Chandrashekar Shetty as Bhasmasura, Umesh Shetty as Eshwara, Rajendra Shetty as Vishnu, Rakshita Shetty as Parvathi, DeepaKiran Shetty as Mohini, Sai Swaroop Rai as Brahmana and Pranali Shetty and Akshara Shetty presented Mangalarathi.

The program concluded with grand raffle draw, where winners won an LED TV and a touch screen laptop.

On behalf of the organizing committee, Radhika R Shetty delivered the vote of thanks expressing gratitude for the wholehearted support from each and every Bunt community member.
