Karnataka Sangha Mumbai to inaugurate 'Sahitya Bharathi'

Mumbai, Nov 26: Karnataka Sangha, Mumbai, winner of Suvarna Karnataka Rajyothsava award, will be inaugurating a series of monthly programmes titled 'Sahitya Bharathi' by central Sahitya academy award winner K Veerabhadrappa on Saturday November 30 at 5 pm.

 The programme will be held at Samarasa Bhavana at Matunga west.  He will be giving a brief introduction of the programmes after the inauguration.     

K Veerabhadrappa, a resident of Bellary by origin has won central sahitya academy award for his novel, ‘Aramane’.  He has retired from his teaching profession in 2009 after 34 years of his meritorious service in the villages of Andhra Pradesh.

He has written 13 books consisting of small stories, Reviews, 15 novels, autobiography, poems and translations totally amounting to 40 in number.  He has been awarded Karnataka Sahitya academy award, Vardhamana Udayonmukha award, Ugrana award, Chaduranga award, Sahitya academy honorary award, Rajyotsava award, Gaurisha Kaikini Pratistana award etc.

Several movies are produced based on his novels.  Those are 'Bete', 'Beliya Hoo', 'Kendada Male', 'Kotra Highschoolige seriddu' and 'Bhagavathi Kadu'.  Four Ph D thesis and 7 M Phil thesis have been published on his novels.  He is well known among stories, novels and films.

Honorary secretary Omdas Kannangar, president Prakash G Burde and other office bearers have urged lovers of literature to come in large numbers for monthly Sahitya Bharathi programme that will be concentrating on literature and reviews.
